From 1 April 2024, insurers will no longer be obliged to send the lucky green card by post: to simplify the procedure and protect the environment, all information will now be consolidated in the national database of insured vehicles.

I still haven't received my new green card. Is this normal?

Yes, this is completely normal. Since 1 April, the law has changed and the traditional paper Green Card has been replaced by a digital version that you can download at any time from your customer area!
To do this, go to the "My insurance" section, select your car insurance, then at the bottom of the page, click on "Download" in the "My documents" section. From now on, you no longer need to carry your physical green card with you. During roadside checks, the police will check your vehicle's insurance by referring to your number plate via the FVA (Fichier des Véhicules Assurés). Rest assured!

What is the FVA?

The Fichier des Véhicules Assurés (FVA) lists insured vehicles, whether cars or two-wheelers. It helps the police to identify and punish uninsured drivers by using registration plate numbers.

You can check that your vehicle is registered by going to www.fva-assurance.fr and entering your car's registration number and the number of the registration certificate on your vehicle registration document.
You can also do this by telephone by calling 01 83 64 32 22.

No, but I don't like having it in digital format. What's all this about?

Unfortunately, we have not been sending out green cards since 1 April. If you prefer to have a paper version in your car, you can always download it from your customer area. To do this, go to the "My insurance" section, select your car insurance, then at the bottom of the page, click on "Download" in the "My documents" section.

What do you mean by Memo of insured vehicle?

The Memo is simply your insurance certificate. It proves that you are insured until the Fichier des Véhicules Assurés (FVA) is updated. What's more, the Memo is useful if you have to fill in an accident report, as it contains all the important information from your insurance contract. You can find it at any time in your customer area.
